Golden Retriever Retreat is an exclusive golden retriever ONLY pet minding service where your goldie gets to enjoy the same lifestyle as they would at home. Think, curling up by the fire in our cosy cottage after daily adventures through the bush or to the beach.

We know your golden retriever means the world to you and so seeing them with sad kennel face is sure to break your heart. That’s why we’re all about changing the way your goldie is cared for when you’re away, so you can actually enjoy your holiday knowing they’re having the best time ever!

Golden Retrievers love to be part of the pack and at Golden Retriever Retreat your goldie will become part of our family. They’ll have full access to our home and the companionship of our resident goldies, Leo and Layla, who are always ready to welcome new friends with open paws. Tired goldies are happy goldies and each day with us will be an adventure. Your golden retriever will love exploring our seven-acre dog-friendly property, discovering new areas to play, sniff and roll. We have fenced play spaces, a dam for swimming, forest walks and take regular trips to our local beach so your goldie can do what they do best; wiggle their paws into the sand and splash in the surf.

The only risk is that your golden retriever might have a better time on holiday than you!

Meet the Pack

Leo

When they came up with the saying gentle giant, they were probably describing Leo. 80% lion and 100% cute he’s the charmer in the family and melts the hearts of everyone he
meets (he’s also got the best hair!). A founding member of Inner West Goldies, (a community in Sydney for golden retrievers and their peeps) you may have fallen in love with him at one of our monthly meets.

Layla

Gorgeous and spirited Layla is the life of the party and is always making people laugh with her goofball antics! A true sweetheart, she loves snuggles, making new friends and going on adventures. A founding member of Inner West Goldies, (a community in Sydney for golden retrievers and their peeps) if your goldie has been to one of our monthly meets, they’ve definitely had a playful rumble with Layla.

Vanessa

Vanessa’s dream has always been to be surrounded by golden retrievers—which is why she founded Golden Retriever Retreat! Vanessa loves to travel and understands how hard it is to leave your goldie behind. It’s why she’s passionate about making your goldie feel like one of the family, showering them with love and cuddles. She’s been described as the human version of a golden retriever which we think is the biggest compliment a person can get!

Our Location

Our beautiful, dog friendly farm is located in Jasper’s Brush, just a seven-minute drive from Berry and two hours south of Sydney.

Nestled in a lush valley, our historic farmhouse is surrounded by rolling green meadows and hiking trails that meander through gorgeous eucalyptus forest—the perfect spot for golden retrievers to run, play and explore.

Harley loves spending time at Golden Retriever Retreat with Leo and Layla! Just wanted to thank you so much for Griffin’s week with you.

It was obvious from when I dropped him off & picked him up that he felt totally at home with you at your beautiful property and with Leo & Layla. He had such a fantastic time, swimming at the beach, going on long country adventures, rumbling with the other Goldies in the safe paddocks of your property and being tucked up at night. I really appreciated all the photos you sent through during the week also. I am really fastidious about who I leave my animals with and Griffy could not have had a better holiday as he was loved just like he is with us.

When our dog is so happy to see us but then refuses to get in the car to go home (even with the lure of food), that’s telling of what a great time she had at Golden Retriever Retreat! And is it any surprise? Our daily photo and video updates features our Goldie (Chelsea) always grinning from ear to ear while exploring the great outdoors of the property and surrounds, swimming and digging at the local beach, playing with resident Goldies, Layla (with Leo close by) and an exhausted, but contented Chelsea at night, snuggling up to her BFF Layla, Vanessa or other Barret family members. The care and attention Chelsea receives from Vanessa and her family are of the highest standard. Chelsea loved her first stay so much that we ended up cancelling her subsequent care with family and utilised Golden Retriever Retreat instead! It was like Chelsea was having a holiday as well while her human family were away.

Vanessa is warm and friendly, professional, efficient in her communication and is flexible with drop offs (even meeting us half way from Sydney to save us time). Booking and payment is easy and seamless. One can tell that she (along with her family) loves Golden Retrievers and our Chelsea certainly loves them (and her stay) too.

Would we recommend Golden Retriever Retreat? Most definitely.
